About The Position

Brex is the intelligent finance platform that enables companies to spend smarter and move faster in more than 200 markets. By combining global corporate cards and banking with intuitive spend management, bill pay, and travel software, Brex enables founders and finance teams to accelerate operations, gain real-time visibility, and control spend effortlessly. Brex’s AI-native automation and world-class service eliminate manual expense and accounting tasks for customers so they can focus on what matters most. Tens of thousands of the world's best companies run on Brex, including DoorDash, Coinbase, Robinhood, Zoom, Plaid, Reddit, and SeatGeek. Working at Brex allows you to push your limits, challenge the status quo, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. We’re committed to building a diverse team and inclusive culture and believe your potential should only be limited by how big you can dream. We make this a reality by empowering you with the tools, resources, and support you need to grow your career. Following Capital One's acquisition of Brex, AI is one of our biggest areas of investment — with real backing and stability behind the bet. The Product team is at the forefront of Brex's mission to empower employees anywhere to make better financial decisions. With a deep understanding of the business, we identify and scope out the most impactful opportunities for Brex to tackle. We are responsible for aligning cross-functional teams — such as Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Design — on key decisions. We set strategy and drive products from inception to launch, enabling Brex to grow rapidly and help our customers reach their full potential. The Brex Assistant is an AI agent that acts as an executive assistant for every employee — handling the expense, spend, and travel busywork they'd otherwise do by hand, and meeting them where they already are, in chat and over SMS. No app to open, no form to fill; the agent understands what you need and takes real actions on your behalf, in a conversation. The vision is broad: nearly anything an employee or manager does around their spend, the Assistant can help with. Swipe your card and it reaches out to document the charge — moving it to the right spend limit, drafting a memo from your calendar, pulling in attendees, checking your policy, and requesting the receipt. Beyond that, it files reimbursements, answers spend and policy questions, helps with Brex travel (from booking to sorting out issues that come up mid-trip), and chases the expense follow-ups that normally pile up. It's one of the most agentic products at Brex: the experience leads with conversation rather than screens and forms, so the agent has to genuinely understand what you need and take the right actions — not just point you to where you could do it yourself. The card is at the center of how Brex works, so an assistant that strips the friction out of every swipe is one of the company's highest-leverage bets. For most employees, the card plus this agent can become the only part of Brex they ever touch. It's an early-stage product with real momentum: no one has a finished playbook for building reliable, action-taking agents in the financial space — the right evals, the right feedback loops, the right way to keep an agent trustworthy as models and tooling shift underneath you. You'll invent much of that, with the ownership and pace of a startup and the backing of an established company behind you.

Requirements

  • You're an experienced product manager (7-12 years of relevant experience). You have a track record of owning complex, user-facing products end to end — setting direction and shipping to real users — with the scope and judgment this senior role calls for.
  • You've built AI products for other people. You've shipped LLM/agent features to real users and have genuine, hands-on depth in prompting, eval design, and iterating against measurement — not just using AI tools in your own day-to-day.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. You do your best work when the goal is clear but the path isn't — you find the approach, ship, measure, and refine. You've owned something early-stage or taken a problem area and run with it on your own initiative (as a founder, an early operator, or an early or only PM on a surface), working closely with engineering and design rather than in isolation.
  • Strong product taste and judgment about what's worth shipping to customers and what isn't.
  • You move fast and go deep — comfortable prototyping, reading data, and getting into the details rather than working through layers.

Nice To Haves

  • experience building conversational, chat-native, or SMS-based products
  • familiarity with fintech, expense management, or spend workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own product direction for the Brex Assistant — the strategy, the roadmap, and the day-to-day calls on what ships.
  • Define agent capabilities that take real actions for users, and translate messy real-world expense and spend workflows into reliable agent behaviors.
  • Invent the "how": design the evals, prompting approaches, and feedback loops that make the agent dependable — and re-invent them as the underlying models and tooling shift.
  • Get hands-on. Prototype, measure, read transcripts, and iterate quickly toward what actually works rather than what looks good in a demo.
  • Talk to users constantly, and let real usage — not assumptions — drive the next iteration.
  • Set and defend a high quality bar for an agent operating in a trust-critical, financial context.

Benefits

  • equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package
