L7 Staff Product Designer

Wander
•$210,000 - $260,000•Remote

About The Position

WanderOS (wander.com/os) is the operating system for the businesses that run travel, and it is shipping faster than anything in the category. Direct booking websites, guest messaging, pricing, payments, distribution, and the AI agents that are starting to run operations on behalf of property managers all live in one product. The design bar has to keep up with product velocity, and that is where you come in. As the L7 Staff Product Designer you will define design strategy across multiple product pillars of WanderOS, own the most complex systems in the product, and shape how the whole design function works. You will report directly to Wander's CPO and work shoulder to shoulder with Product, Engineering, and the founder. You sweat the details, you zoom between the holistic view and the operator's view continuously, and you deliver beautiful, useful, usable experiences that people run their businesses on. This role is remote across the US or Canada. If you are in Austin or San Francisco, we have offices waiting for you (SF is in the Presidio).

Requirements

  • 10 to 13+ years of product design experience shipping software products.
  • Define strategy across multiple product pillars or complex systems, not just a single surface.
  • Influence organizational design systems: you build them, scale them, and get whole teams to adopt them.
  • 10 to 13+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, marketplaces, fintech, or operational tools, with a portfolio that shows strategic judgment, systems thinking, and craft at the pixel level.
  • Defined design strategy across multiple product areas or complex systems and can show the business outcomes.
  • Built, scaled, or materially shaped a design system that an organization adopted.
  • Deep technical understanding of how your designs get built.
  • Strong command of product strategy and business needs, and a wide range of UX tactics to get to user-centered outcomes.
  • Systems thinker. You see how the pieces fit together and how an operator's actions play out over weeks and months, not just one screen.
  • Interpret experiments and quantitative data to inform decisions, and you know when to trust the numbers and when to go talk to an operator.
  • Practiced communicator and storyteller who can defend a design rationale to executives, engineers, and founders alike.
  • Lead through ambiguity with influence, not authority, and you have a track record of mentoring designers and raising a team's bar.
  • Enthusiastic about using AI to change how products are designed and how operators work.
  • Deep mastery of Figma and modern prototyping tools, and you adopt new tools fast.
  • Hardcore. You set a high bar, move fast, and ship.
  • Only applicants who include a design portfolio with their application will be considered. Show us the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Built something in code: a side project, a prototype, or a product.
  • Experience designing AI-powered products or agentic workflows for business users.
  • Background in travel, hospitality, vacation rentals, property management, or other operational SaaS.
  • Experience with data-heavy interfaces: dashboards, pricing tools, calendars, or financial products.
  • Mobile-first design chops and strong knowledge of native app and mobile web patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects of significant scope, complexity, and responsibility across WanderOS, spanning creative vision, strategy, and execution.
  • Define design direction across multiple product pillars: operator onboarding, calendar and reservations, pricing, guest communication, payments, distribution, and reporting.
  • Untangle the most complex systems in the product and turn them into simple, fast, obvious interfaces. Our customers run businesses on this software. Every click counts.
  • Define how AI agents show up inside WanderOS: what they do autonomously, how operators supervise them, and how trust is built and kept.
  • Own the WanderOS design system as a product in its own right: patterns, components, tokens, and governance, so the team can ship consistently at ludicrous speed.
  • Anchor and represent design inside cross-functional teams, improve the tools, patterns, and processes the team uses, and optimize for impact, velocity, and quality.
  • Mentor and guide other designers, run critique, identify skill gaps, and partner with the CPO on how the design function scales.
  • Talk to operators constantly. Run research, synthesize it, and bring the insight back into the roadmap.
  • Prototype fast, test with real operators, and ship. We would rather learn in a week than debate for a month.
  • Care about outcomes, not just outputs: activation, adoption, retention, and revenue.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $210,000 to $260,000 USD.
  • Meaningful equity. You will own a piece of what you build.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Remote-first across the US and Canada, with offices in Austin, TX and San Francisco (Presidio) if you want a desk.
