Staff Product Designer

HelpsideLindon, UT
Hybrid

About The Position

Helpside is a Utah-based Professional Employer Organization (PEO) with over 30 years of experience. We simplify employment for small and mid-sized businesses by managing payroll, employee benefits, HR, safety, and workers' compensation. We provide the HR back-office systems and expertise, allowing our clients to concentrate on their core business operations. We are seeking a Staff Product Designer to take ownership of the entire user experience at Helpside and establish our design system from the ground up. This role involves setting design standards for the product and performing hands-on work, including research, user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and the development of shipped features. The designer will collaborate directly with leadership, product and engineering teams, and cross-functional departments to simplify complex HR, payroll, and benefits workflows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience, including time operating at a staff or principal level, preferably in B2B/SaaS software.
  • A strong portfolio showing end-to-end work - including zero-to-one products and design systems you built, not just contributed to.
  • Proficiency with Figma (design system management, prototyping, component architecture).
  • Experience using AI tools.
  • High agency and strong communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in HR tech, payroll, benefits, fintech, or other complex/data-heavy domains.

Responsibilities

  • Define, communicate, and implement a cohesive vision for the product user experience that helps our clients achieve their goals and helps Helpside meet our business objectives.
  • Influence product strategy by representing and advocating for user needs in planning and prioritization.
  • Turn complex HR, payroll, and benefits processes into effortless, human-centered user journeys.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive design system - styles, components, information architecture, and user flows - that lets us scale quickly while staying consistent.
  • Own end-to-end design for features and initiatives: research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final UI.
  • Shepherd designs from concept to ship, collaborating closely with engineering through implementation.
  • Deeply understand our clients and target personas through usability tests, customer interviews, and design reviews.
  • Use data and research to set strategy and make design decisions.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and department heads to translate business needs into design direction across the product.
  • Present your work, explain your rationale, and influence without authority - with leadership, engineers, and clients.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary
  • Health insurance 100% paid by employer (for both employee and family!)
  • Additional voluntary supplemental benefits including dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accident, critical illness, etc.
  • 401(k) with company match
