Staff Product Designer, Internal Tools

Facet
$175,000 - $200,000Remote

About The Position

Facet is seeking a Staff Product Designer to lead the design of its internal tools. These tools are critical for the daily workflows of dedicated teams across financial planning, sales, support, and investment operations, serving tens of thousands of members nationwide. The role requires a designer adept at untangling complex workflows, designing for dense information architecture, and advocating for internal users. The initial focus will be on leading UX research for internal tools, architecting scalable and intuitive mental models and interfaces to optimize daily tasks, and transforming legacy tools into streamlined workspaces in partnership with Product Management and Engineering. The goal is to enhance staff efficiency and service quality, with an immediate priority on redesigning the core platform to increase financial planner capacity, reduce onboarding friction, and improve business unit economics. The scope also includes critical tools across the entire internal ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Online portfolio required for consideration and must showcase strong information architecture, systems thinking, and complex workflow design instead of pure consumer visual polish.
  • 7+ years of product design experience with a track record of shipping software for data intensive workflows, internal tools, or specialized professional platforms; fintech experience a plus.
  • Comfortable leading user research, driving discovery, mapping user journeys, prototyping, high fidelity designs and partnering with engineering to see designs through production.
  • Ability to showcase how you actively integrate AI capabilities to increase efficiency for you as a designer and for the end user of your solutions.
  • Must be a systems thinker: naturally looks for structural patterns, reusable components, and mental models rather than isolated singular fixes and can showcase how you've solved systemic problems.
  • No-ego teammate who shares work early, collaborates with your cross-functional peers to find the best solutions, navigates technical constraints confidently, and knows exactly how to align stakeholders around UC decisions.
  • Highly proficient in Figma and comfortable working within, maintaining, and extending design systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience designing for financial planning, wealth management, or investing.

Responsibilities

  • Own the complete design process for Facet's internal, web-based software tools from problem framing and information architecture through UI design, prototyping, and shipping.
  • Translate core planning and operational mental models into clear, intuitive experiences and dense UI patterns that enable Facet's unified philosophy to be executed consistently.
  • Untangle legacy information architecture across multiple internal surfaces by consolidating fragmented tools and duplicate actions into logical, efficient workflows.
  • Design comprehensive workflow solutions for our planners and sales teams, optimizing how they schedule meetings, capture notes, answer messages, and manager daily tasks.
  • Conduct ongoing research with Facet's internal teams to validate interaction patterns, surface unmet workflow needs, and advocate for power users who spend the majority of their day in these tools.
  • Design interfaces that clearly communicate exactly what the tools are doing, giving our teams the confidence to rely on automations rather than falling back on manual habits.
  • Make pragmatic design decisions, knowing when to go deep on UX craft and when to ship scrappy, functional solutions that move operational efficiency forward toward business targets.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: $175,000 - $200,000 base salary + bonus
  • Ownership: Equity in a rapidly growing company on the path to becoming the "Next Great Financial Services Company".
