About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Process Integration Engineer to become part of our skilled cross-functional team. In this role, you will oversee wafer fabrication processes for the manufacturing of III-V Semiconductor optoelectronic devices, such as Edge Emitting Lasers and VCSELs. The Integration Engineer will play a key role in effectively translating designs into operational chips, necessitating collaboration with various engineering teams, such as, R&D, Product Engineering, Testing and Reliability Teams to achieve production scaling and lean manufacturing objectives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D (with 3+ years of applicable hands on experience) or Master’s degree (with 5+ years of applicable hands on experience) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or related field is required.
  • Hands-on expertise in III-V compound semiconductor wafer processing, including optical grating patterning, lithography, dry and wet etching, dielectric and metal deposition, implantation, and diffusion
  • Proficiency in Excel VBA macros, LabVIEW, and either C++, Visual Basic, or Matlab is required, along with expertise in statistical data analysis using tools like JMP and Minitab.
  • Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication processes in a high-volume production environment, encompassing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), process and quality management (PMS/QMS), as well as change management.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, a collaborative team member, capable of meeting project deadlines, and possessing excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to offer as needed round-the-clock support/consultation for fab manufacturing activities, including off-hours assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with optical bench/system setup and maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate individual processing steps and process modules to create process flows for III-V based laser chip products, such as Edge Emitting Lasers, and VCSELs
  • Develop new process modules for realizing novel chips, and ensuring these processes are robust and ready for high volume manufacturing
  • Design, build, setup and improve custom tools based on optical table setups, involving mechanical, optical, and control automation programming aspects.
  • Serve as the process expert for the chips and support daily production through real-time issue resolution
  • Lead chip failure analysis to understand processes marginalities and troubleshoot potential root causes for yield, process and performance excursions
  • Perform statistical data analysis and utilize data driven Six Sigma methodologies such as FMEA, Capability Analysis, SPC, DOE, Design for Manufacturing for improving processes, reducing defects and minimizing variations
  • Collaborate closely with the foundry team to meet fab yield targets, improve yield, reduce costs, and minimize cycle time
  • Deliver NPI projects on schedule per Gate Review timeline
