About The Position

Calendly is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to bring operational maturity, deep, hands-on subject-matter expertise with Go and the Kubernetes API, and a strong drive to make an impact. This role will report to the Head of Infrastructure and will be responsible for the successful delivery of Infrastructure roadmap objectives. The goal is to provide a self-service platform that allows product developers to independently operate Calendly’s services. Requirements

10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development
4+ years of experience leading technical projects
An eagerness and drive to teach, share your knowledge, and mentor others
Comfortable, and practiced, working directly with internal customers to understand needs/requirements and collaborate on solutions
Creative problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and ability to deliver high quality solutions to complex issues
Strong Go (Golang) development experience; especially writing APIs to build, orchestrate and manage cloud infrastructure
Expert knowledge of patterns and principles for designing and implementing cloud native applications on Kubernetes, such as Controllers and Operators
Deep experience designing, building, and running highly-available production applications
An understanding of the Linux operating system, and systems engineering fundamentals
Technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially GCP), distributed systems, and reliability practices
Working knowledge of software and infrastructure tuning and observability (especially Datadog)
Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

Experience building applications on Temporal a plus

Responsibilities

Designing and building tools and applications to extend Calendly’s infrastructure platform
Evaluating and guiding the development of applications across the organization
Exercising deep expertise in cloud infrastructure concepts and patterns
Offering and evangelizing patterns for application teams to consume for cloud native applications development
Fostering a collaborative environment of learning and knowledge dissemination
Participating in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.
