About The Position

Clarify is building an AI-native CRM for modern go-to-market teams. The Staff Platform Engineer will own the foundations supporting the product, including the data platform, ingestion pipelines, eventing system, integrations, and public APIs. The role sets technical direction for how data enters Clarify, is modeled and maintained, and supports product development and customer use. The engineer will work closely with founders and product squads and own the production reliability of the systems they build.

Clarify has raised $22.5 million and has a team of approximately 27 people. The company uses TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, Postgres, Kafka, and BullMQ. Seattle-based employees work from the Pioneer Square office three days a week; employees outside Seattle work on a fully distributed team. The company brings the full team together for offsites two to three times a year.

Requirements

• Experience operating at Staff level or above and owning the architecture of a data or platform system end to end.
• Experience building and operating data platforms, ingestion pipelines, or event-driven systems in production at scale.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills and deep Postgres experience.
• Experience building on queues and event streams such as BullMQ or Kafka.
• Experience designing APIs and pipelines that handle conflicts, retries, and partial failures gracefully.
• Experience building and operating integrations with third-party APIs.
• Ownership of production systems, including on-call.
• Startup experience and interest in working close to customer impact.

Nice To Haves

• Experience at a data or integration platform such as Segment, Fivetran, Hightouch, Census, Merge, or Paragon.
• Experience designing public developer APIs.
• Experience with entity resolution or data-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical direction of Clarify's data platform as it scales.
• Build reliable, high-volume ingestion pipelines for email, calendar, calls, and third-party data.
• Evolve the eventing system so product features, AI agents, and Signals can react to changes in real time.
• Design the canonical data model and integration framework for mapping systems such as HubSpot, Salesforce, and Stripe into Clarify.
• Shape public APIs and webhooks for customers and partners building on Clarify.
• Address rate limits, backfills, ordering, idempotency, conflict resolution, and deduplication.
• Build observability to detect data issues before they affect customers.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, mentoring, and pragmatic practices.
• Use AI in the engineering workflow to accelerate modeling, testing, and review.
• Own the production reliability of shipped systems, including on-call responsibilities.
