About The Position

TeamHealth is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible emergency medicine physician to join a new freestanding emergency department (FSED) in Davenport, Florida. The facility will provide full-service emergency care to eastern Polk County and be affiliated with Winter Haven Hospital and BayCare Health System. Physicians may work at both the Davenport FSED and Winter Haven Hospital if desired, or work all shifts at the FSED. This is a full emergency department, not an urgent care center. Physicians will manage a broad range of emergency presentations using diagnostic, laboratory, and imaging services, with capabilities for stabilization and hospital transfer when admission is required. The new FSED is projected to see 30,000 visits annually and will have 15 patient treatment rooms. Physician shifts at the FSED are 12 hours. Winter Haven Hospital’s emergency department sees approximately 70,000 visits annually and has a 51-bed ED, a dedicated 14-bed observation unit, and a fast track. The hospital is described as a 468-bed facility in the opportunity details; the facility description separately identifies it as a 458-bed hospital. The ED serves a medium-to-high acuity patient population and offers double physician coverage, Cerner EMR, and broad specialist support. Requirements

Be board-certified or board-eligible through ABEM or AOBEM.
Have completed emergency medicine residency training.
Have strong clinical and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Provide full-service emergency care and manage the full spectrum of emergency presentations.
Use comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, laboratory services, and imaging in patient care.
Stabilize patients and arrange hospital transfer when admission is required.
Work 12-hour physician shifts at the Davenport FSED.
Optionally work at both the Davenport FSED and Winter Haven Hospital, or work all shifts at the FSED.
