About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join their team of medical professionals in the Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs, Alabama. As a Correctional Staff Physician, the role involves providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Possess a current DEA registration
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to manage and direct medical team
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Responsibilities
- Performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population.
- Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens.
- Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment.
- Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients.
- Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units.
- Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
- Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.
