About The Position

Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking a pediatrician to work as-needed to provide direct care in its Community Health Services clinic at Eastgate Public Health. This posting will create a list of qualified candidates that may be considered for selection of additional vacancies of the same position type over the next 6 months. Requirements

  • WA State Medical License must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • A National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program.
  • Must be board certified or board eligible.
  • Individuals who are board certified in Family Medicine or in Pediatric Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, residents and other providers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Experience in managing chronic diseases and working with vulnerable patients with history of homelessness, behavioral health conditions, incarceration and substance use.
  • Knowledge of outpatient care, including medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and health service delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of medical records documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in problem solving and triage decisions.
  • Employees are required to protect the privacy and security of protected health information as defined in State and Federal Law.
  • Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
  • Employees are required to adhere to OSHA/WISHA guidelines including but not limited to completing their mandatory trainings on time and obtaining required immunizations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
  • The selected candidate must be able to provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR
  • The selected candidate must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, but findings may not necessarily disqualify an applicant for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to be assigned 2+ shifts per month (we recognize that this may vary month to month).
  • Strong clinical experience in pediatric primary care medicine and comprehensive knowledge in managing vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to occasionally precept resident physicians in Pediatrics.
  • Experience providing medication treatment for opioid use disorder in low barrier outpatient setting, including use of long-acting injectable buprenorphine.
  • Understanding of the role of Public Health in promoting health and well-being across the lifespan and addressing the social determinants of health.
  • Demonstrated experience and a desire to work in multidisciplinary team which includes clinicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, community health workers, and other care team members.
  • Skill in organization and knowledge of time management techniques in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and provide medical treatment to clients.
  • Educate and counsel clients on a broad scope of personal and health care issues.
  • Provide medical triage and patient care evaluation.
  • Provide technical consultation to nursing staff for assigned work location.
  • Document clinical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals, and consultations.
  • Perform minor procedures and other duties as assigned within position's scope.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision of resident and fellow physicians.
