About The Position

Staff Pharmacists fill medication orders, monitor patient medication therapy, and provide drug information. They supervise and direct support personnel; prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities; dispense medications through compounding, packaging, and labeling; and monitor drug therapies while advising on interventions. At Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, the role includes CCU and Stepdown patient rounds, discharge counseling, medication reconciliation review, controlled substance reporting, and Pharmacy Technician oversight. Shifts are either 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday, and holidays, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The minimum commitment is one shift per month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts as available.

Requirements

Tennessee Pharmacist License (LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee).
One year of relevant work experience.
Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

Review, prepare, and dispense medications according to accepted standards of practice.
Participate in departmental and facility clinical activities, including medication education for patients and staff and documenting appropriate interventions in the real-time clinical surveillance system.
Manage departmental resources effectively.
Provide quality, patient-specific drug information and recommendations to healthcare workers and patients.
Establish measurable yearly goals and objectives.
Participate in CCU and Stepdown patient rounds.
Provide discharge counseling and review medication reconciliation.
Complete controlled substance reporting.
Oversee Pharmacy Technicians.
Supervise and direct support personnel.
