About The Position

CPS, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a full-time, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist to join their team. This role involves filling orders with accuracy, checking technician-prepared products, maintaining pharmacy and controlled substance security, entering orders and patient information accurately, assisting in training new staff, updating the Director on daily pharmacy activities, and supporting the Director in pharmacy maintenance. The pharmacy operates Monday through Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, utilizing HCS for order entry and Omnicell for automated dispensing cabinets. The position is located at Holly Hill Hospital, a 168-bed Joint Commission accredited behavioral health hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving adults and seniors with mental health and addiction challenges.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy; PharmD preferred
  • Current Pharmacist license in good standing in NC
  • Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems
  • Proven ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting
  • Demonstrated effective communications skills; verbal and written

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in good standing
  • Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
  • Experience in a behavioral health hospital

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements
