About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is the region's largest comprehensive academic health system, comprising eight hospitals and over 180 clinics. This role is part of the Retail Support Group and involves leadership in medication preparation, dosing, and patient-specific drug information. The pharmacist will also play a role in preventing and reporting medication errors and adverse drug reactions, supporting positive relationships with healthcare professionals, families, and patients, and actively participating in ongoing education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Novice)
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Intermediate)
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation & Dispensing (Intermediate)
  • Medication Management (Intermediate)

  • Hybrid schedule available after onboarding and training have been completed which includes working onsite for a full week every 6 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in optimal product preparation and dosing of medications, and provision of patient specific drug information to include patient specific dosing.
  • Aides in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to policy.
  • Supports quality relationships with health care professionals, families, and patients.
  • Actively involved in being further educated and providing education in all appropriate ways.
  • Reviews drug orders and/or prescriptions to ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.
  • Provides outstanding patient care by optimizing medication preparation and resolving medication-related problems.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy.
  • Supervises the activities of assigned support personnel and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications prepared by support personnel prior to dispensing to patients or dispensing to healthcare providers for administration to patients.
  • Data entry verification/verifying orders and answering questions from patients, providers, and technicians.
