About The Position
The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical and comprehensive patient care to customers by accurately processing and dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients about health care and medications, administering immunizations, and administering other Walmart programs in compliance with Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations. The role maintains confidential information, controlled medications, documentation, and records in accordance with Company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines. The pharmacist promotes quality, safety, and accuracy in patient care; communicates expectations; ensures counseling and documentation are completed as required; identifies areas for improvement; and supports reporting and correction of errors. The role also supports health care compliance through training, follow-up on compliance initiatives, appropriate billing and HIPAA practices, standard operating procedures, and audits. The position provides guidance to associates, supports customer service, business solutions, operational execution, safety, and loss prevention, and models Company policies, ethics, and values. It includes building stakeholder relationships, developing and mentoring others, and adapting to changing priorities and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
- Pharmacy license by job entry date.
- Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA, pharmacy school curriculum, or a state pharmacy association-sponsored program.
Responsibilities
- Process and accurately dispense prescription orders, counsel customers about health care and prescription medication needs, and maintain confidential information and controlled-medication documentation.
- Administer immunizations and other Walmart health programs in compliance with Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations.
- Maintain confidential information, documentation, and assigned records in accordance with Company policies and applicable local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Promote patient care quality, safety, and accuracy; communicate expectations; and hold associates accountable for standard operating procedures and patient safety goals.
- Provide required counseling and health-service information for new therapies, new items, and as requested or required, with appropriate documentation.
- Identify patient-care and safety improvements, implement interventions to improve team knowledge and reduce risk, and promote transparent reporting of errors.
- Communicate, train, and guide associates on health care compliance initiatives; monitor compliance execution; and ensure appropriate billing, HIPAA adherence, and SOP execution.
- Use audits to identify compliance issues and implement improvement processes.
- Guide associates on customer service approaches and help resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues within Company guidelines.
- Support business solutions by building stakeholder relationships, identifying business needs, carrying out processes, monitoring results, and adapting to changing demands and responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with Company and legal policies and regulations, including safety, loss prevention, operational, and quality assurance practices.
- Model Company policies, ethics, integrity, and values; build trusting team relationships; communicate effectively; and help develop and mentor others.
