Staff Pharmacist
About The Position
Weiser Memorial Hospital is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join their team. The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for interpreting physician prescriptions and medication orders, acting as a drug information resource to patients and medical staff, and compounding and dispensing medications. This role involves providing quality medical evaluation and treatment to patients of all ages, working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality care while maintaining patient confidentiality, clear communication, and professionalism. Key duties include reviewing physician orders for accuracy, dispensing medications, and contributing to treatment decision-making by reviewing patient clinical information. The Staff Pharmacist will also assist physicians in determining medications, doses, and administration frequency by monitoring lab values and providing pharmaceutical care to all age groups. Adherence to service excellence standards, compassionate care, and compliance with hospital policies and safety protocols are expected.
Requirements
- Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
- Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Current Pharmacist certification or licensure in the State of Idaho.
- Current State and Federal DEA.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education or subsequent training.
Responsibilities
- Interpreting physician prescriptions and medication orders.
- Acting as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel.
- Compounding and dispensing prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care.
- Providing quality medical evaluation and treatment to patients of all ages.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality care.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality, clear communication, and professionalism.
- Reviewing physician orders to ensure accuracy and correct dispensing of medications.
- Contributing to the treatment decision-making process through review of clinical information.
- Reviewing patient's admission medication list and hospital orders to identify potential side effects, harmful interactions, and suitability of treatments.
- Assisting the physician in determining medications, doses, and frequency of administration.
- Monitoring lab values and providing pharmaceutical care to all age groups.
