About The Position

CVS Health’s Staff Pharmacist supports the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team and helps manage, oversee, and operate all aspects of the pharmacy. The role delivers safe and appropriate dispensing, patient counseling, immunizations, and pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permitted. Staff Pharmacists model compassionate care, support positive patient experiences, promote accurate prescription fulfillment, and help ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and company policies. The position requires regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and may involve working at other locations across the market as business needs require.

Requirements

Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs.
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
Customer-service and team-orientation skills, including responding appropriately to patients’ needs and reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
Active listening skills.
Mathematical reasoning skills to calculate quantities, days’ supply, and medication packaging needs.
Ability to identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and select an appropriate course of action.
Ability to complete the physical demands described in the posting, including standing or remaining upright for extended periods, lifting and handling items, reaching, repetitive finger movements, stooping, and close visual work.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during pharmacist shifts without overlap.
Coach pharmacy team members, follow up consistently, strengthen pharmacy performance measures, and provide performance feedback to the Pharmacy Manager as needed.
Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing adherence to pharmacy workflow procedures and workstation safety guardrails.
Promote positive patient experiences through empathy, compassionate care, collaboration with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactive resolution of insurance or medication issues.
Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
Manage pharmacy inventory according to best practices, with particular attention to protecting cold-chain products.
Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalate issues or concerns as needed.
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contribute to a safe and inclusive team environment, and write the pharmacy schedule if directed.
Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required training, continuing medical education, and other learning opportunities.
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care, such as testing and prescribing services where permitted.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including requirements for controlled substances, patient privacy, security, and workplace safety.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and complete required training within the designated timeframe.
