About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Staff Pharmacist for Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. VUMC is a community dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The Staff Pharmacist will fill medication orders, monitor patient therapy, provide drug information, and supervise support personnel. This role involves preparing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting incompatibilities, and dispensing medications through compounding, packaging, and labeling. The pharmacist will also control medications by monitoring drug therapies and advising interventions. This position offers a rotating shift of four 10-hour days per week, Monday through Friday, with alternating days off during the week and approximately every fifth weekend rotation. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, and Saturday/Sunday/Holiday hours are 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Clinical and central pharmacy responsibilities will be rotated. Requirements

  • LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, prepares, and dispenses medications according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Actively participates in all clinical activities within the department and/or facility to include but not be limited to: patient and/or staff education regarding medication(s) and documented interventions within the real time clinical surveillance system as deemed appropriate.
  • Effectively manages departmental resources.
  • Provides quality, patient-specific drug information and recommendations to health care workers and patients.
  • Establishes measurable yearly goals and objectives.
  • Fills orders for medications, monitors patient medication therapy, and provides drug information.
  • Supervises and directs support personnel.
  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
