About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist fulfills customers’ prescription needs with a focus on accuracy, provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care, and administers vaccines as needed. The role helps create an outstanding customer experience and a safe, clean pharmacy environment while supporting department sales and profit goals, quality assurance standards, expense control, and appropriate technician staffing. The pharmacist monitors pharmacy functions and activities, ensures compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
• Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of retail experience.
• Ability to speak, read, and/or write a second language.

Responsibilities

• Fill customer prescriptions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as needed.
• Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care.
• Ensure pharmacy compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
• Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and pharmacy condition; follow pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
• Develop thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
• Promote a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
• Monitor stock replenishment, inventory, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, reports, and product recalls in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain appropriate records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
• Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
• Use accuracy tools appropriately, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
• Maintain records required for legal compliance, company and accounting policies, and requested reports.
• Keep the work area clean, neat, sanitary, and organized, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
• Handle product returns promptly and in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain pharmacy equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
• Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and ensure staff know how to use them.
• Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacist photographs and names, and other requested signs.
• Continuously broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
• Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Create an outstanding customer experience and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service.
• Support department sales and profit goals, quality assurance standards, expense control, and technician scheduling and staffing needs.
• Monitor all department functions, duties, and activities.
