About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist – Specialty Pharmacy is the professional in charge of supervising the Pharmacy Department (prescription area) in the absence of the Managing Pharmacist. They are responsible for leading the functions of the pharmacy technicians in the unit where they work. They must be capable of handling different situations with employees, visitors, and resolving issues in a framework of professionalism using judgment and common sense to make decisions. They must comply with all laws and regulations applicable to the pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS Pharm)
  • Professional license, membership, registration, and diplomas.
  • Ability to resolve matters with purpose and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to preserve the confidentiality of information related to the patient and the company.
  • Commitment to patient service.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks for extended periods of work.
  • Proficient in computer use.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (Preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Community Pharmacy (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the dispensing of medical prescriptions within a correct and appropriate framework as per applicable regulations.
  • Provide and maintain pharmaceutical services. E.g., Adherence Programs, Vaccination, etc.
  • Assist the managing pharmacist in the daily tasks of the prescription area, including supervising the employees during their work shift.
  • Educate patients on the appropriate use of their medications.
  • Handle and resolve issues, complaints, and questions from patients promoting customer trust and loyalty.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Ensure proper handling of the controlled substances inventory.
  • Use the prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) to ensure the appropriate dispensing of controlled substance prescriptions.
  • Interact with physicians to obtain additional information about patients and their prescriptions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, neatness, efficiency, and safety of the prescription area.
  • Ensure excellent patient service by all pharmacy staff.
  • Model and provide leadership and development for pharmacy staff.
