This role is within the MCC Rx Outpatient Services and involves leadership in optimal product preparation and dosing of medications, as well as providing patient-specific drug information. The pharmacist will assist in preventing and reporting medication errors and adverse drug reactions, maintain quality relationships with healthcare professionals, families, and patients, and actively participate in ongoing education and providing education.

Requirements

  • LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year experience
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews drug orders and/or prescriptions to ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.
  • Provides outstanding patient care by optimizing medication preparation and resolving medication-related problems.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy.
  • Supervises the activities of assigned support personnel and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications prepared by support personnel prior to dispensing to patients or dispensing to healthcare providers for administration to patients.
  • Retail environment filling discharge prescriptions, completing refills for complex patient populations, setting up mail, and helping families of patients directly.
  • Clinical component includes evaluating doses and indications with their MAR, submitting prior authorizations, and making interventions with providers directly.
