About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and ambulatory care centers across Orange and Los Angeles counties. UCI Health is recognized for its comprehensive cancer center, Level I trauma center, geriatric emergency department, and burn center. It serves a population of 5.6 million through patient care, research, and medical education. As a Staff Pharmacist, you will be responsible for daily drug distribution, processing drug and IV orders, performing therapeutic interventions, providing drug information and consultation to healthcare professionals and patients, maintaining patient profiles, attending cardio-pulmonary emergencies, monitoring drug therapy, and compounding drugs. You will also direct technicians, manage inventory, and precept pharmacy residents, students, technicians, or interns. This role is considered a Direct Care Provider.

Requirements

  • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of pharmacy as determined by the CA Board of Pharmacy
  • One year of clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist or completion of PGY1 by time of hire
  • Must have current knowledge of drug references, Joint Commission requirements, and other regulatory standards
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current BLS or ACLS upon hire
  • CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patient’s medical management plan
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
