This role is responsible for creating and designing the physical layout of integrated circuits (ICs) or printed circuit boards (PCBs). The engineer will place and route components, traces, and other elements to ensure proper functionality and performance. They will also create and verify the layout design by conducting design rule checks (DRC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks, ensuring the design meets specifications, constraints, and manufacturing capabilities. Collaboration with other design teams, selection of appropriate technology, and optimization for various factors like signal integrity, power distribution, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) are key aspects of this position. The role also involves supporting ECAD librarians, managing PCBA prototypes, collaborating with component engineers and supply chain teams, applying Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, and working closely with manufacturing and processing engineering teams. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with test engineers to ensure the PCBA design is testable (Design for Test) and support efficient testing processes. Creating and maintaining documentation, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and mentoring other engineers are also part of the responsibilities. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to a local office.
