About The Position

The Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (SPP) at ACT is responsible for formulating policies, strategies, engagements, and analytical practices to support NATO's security objectives. The Strategic Issues and Engagement Branch (SIE) within SPP coordinates the development of strategic issues and directs strategic engagement with NATO's senior leadership and Non-NATO Entities to align with the Command's Warfare Development agenda. The incumbent will execute engagement and coordination activities to support the objectives of DCOS SPP as directed by the Branch Head.

Requirements

  • University Degree and 2 years function related experience, OR Higher Secondary education with completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in facilitating high level seminars/workshops/symposia.
  • At least 2 years' experience contributing to high-level policy papers/strategy.
  • English – SLP 3333 - (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal tact and ability to work harmoniously in a fast-paced, changing international environment.
  • Comfortable dealing directly with individuals holding all ranks on a daily basis.
  • Strong team work is essential.
  • Ability to plan own work and use initiative and own knowledge to deliver effective outputs.
  • Ability to work as part of teams drawn from within and beyond the Branch, persuading and reasoning to achieve solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the organization of strategic level conferences, seminars and symposia, including production and dissemination of after-action reports and managing related content, budget, and contracting functions.
  • Engage with Defence organizations internal and external to NATO, institutions that conduct strategic research and evaluation, academic entities, economic institutions, and IO/GO/NGOs with international influence.
  • Enable ACT's role as a military think tank by being a member of core teams for topics under development and organizing workshops and reports.
  • Ensure Commander’s objectives, themes, goals, and messages are reflected in all strategic events, policy initiatives, and briefings.
  • Ensure strategic engagement is coherent and inputs are accurately reflected in command communications plans through close staffing alignment.
  • Support the development and maintenance of SIE owned websites.
  • Produce high quality, detailed, and innovative staff products (Point Papers, PowerPoint presentations, In Progress Reports).
  • Review and update existing MOUs/LOAs and agreements with both NATO and non-NATO entities.
