The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. This role involves delivering patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing and evaluating patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills, integrating assessment and intervention skills, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse will prioritize patient care, educate patients and caregivers, communicate effectively, and manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model. Additionally, the role focuses on enhancing the patient experience by role-modeling Relationship Centered Care principles, considering patient values, establishing therapeutic relationships, and initiating service recovery. Quality and safety are paramount, with an emphasis on practicing safe and efficient patient-centered care, demonstrating clinical skills, implementing process improvement strategies, engaging in peer review, and collaborating on quality improvement projects. Operational duties include performing charge nurse duties, coordinating with management for supplies and resources, and documenting accurately. Professional development is encouraged through contributing to the environment of care, advancing clinical competence, projecting a professional image, incorporating ethical principles, and participating in shared decision-making and professional organizations.
