Staff Nurse (RN or LPN)
About The Position
The Staff Nurse (RN or LPN) supports the health and safety of acute psychiatric patients in a pediatric mental and behavioral health setting. The nurse administers medication, conducts health assessments, monitors vital signs, supports infection control, responds to injuries and emergencies, documents care, and collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment teams and direct care staff. The role also involves communication with physicians and guardians, support for patient nutrition and dietary needs, participation in treatment planning and education, specimen collection, and coordination with the pharmacy. Positions are available full-time and part-time in Olathe, Kansas.
Requirements
- Completion of a nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Kansas.
- At least 20 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities
- Complete nursing assessments and documentation within required timelines.
- Perform ongoing assessments and monitor vital signs according to policy.
- Administer psychotropic and PRN medications and document accurately.
- Monitor infection control, respond to injuries and emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.
- Communicate with physicians, guardians, and treatment teams regarding patient health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medical interventions, orders, and records.
- Partner with the staff nutritionist to meet patient dietary needs and report allergies.
- Participate in treatment planning, staff training, and patient education groups.
- Assist with lab specimen collection and coordinate with the pharmacy to ensure timely service.
- Follow KVC procedures and protocols to support patient safety and wellbeing.
