About The Position

This position is for a Staff Nurse working day shifts (7a-7p) with rotating days and options for every other weekend or every weekend work. The role involves direct patient care, including assessment, care planning, and intervention, as well as contributing to hospital operations and interdisciplinary team collaboration.

Requirements

  • BSN required.
  • Current license to practice as RN in the state of Texas.
  • Two years of experience in psychiatric nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and develop comprehensive nursing care plans based on nursing diagnosis and standards of care, including physical, psychological, and social needs.
  • Evaluate nursing actions to meet patient goals and modify plans of care based on ongoing assessment.
  • Provide effective health teaching for patients and families.
  • Ensure comprehensive discharge planning relative to nursing care needs.
  • Observe, document, and communicate patient responses and effectiveness of nursing interventions and medication.
  • Ensure safety by making patient and safety rounds, assessing physical environments, and following up on concerns.
  • Seek constructive feedback from co-workers and utilize management and clinical supervision.
  • Support constructive working relationships with program and other disciplines/departments.
  • Respond to patients, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and behavior appropriate to the hospital setting.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Relieve charge nurse in their absence as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medication action, administration, side effects, and contraindications.
  • Provide safe and timely administration of medication and prescribed treatments, reporting all errors promptly.
  • Effectively engage patients in full participation of treatment programs.
  • Seek opportunities to participate in hospital committees, performance improvement initiatives, and activities.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of students and new staff.
