University of Iowa Health Care is hiring Staff Nurses for its Nursing Float Pool (Tier 1), also known as the Enterprise Staffing Pool, supporting Adult Intermediate Care Services. Nurses circulate among many units at the University Campus in Iowa City. This is a regular salaried position scheduled for 36 hours per week on night shifts, with holiday and weekend requirements. The role uses a self-scheduling model and includes just-in-time assignments, such as covering sign-offs and census flexing. Assignments are anticipated to last 4–12 hours in an area. Tier 1 Staff Nurses receive an additional $5 per hour for all hours worked. Eligible applicants may receive a sign-on incentive of up to $12,500. The nurse applies nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses to health and illness; develops and implements patient care plans; coordinates care and discharge planning; and collaborates with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members. The role also involves documenting care and responses, following applicable policies and protocols, and maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Applicants must have an eligible nursing degree and at least one year of current Adult Intermediate Care experience. An active Iowa nursing license is required by the date of hire. Candidates must submit a resume and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential and education verification. The position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
