About The Position

Children's Mercy is seeking a Part-Time Staff Nurse for their Urology Clinic. This role involves providing illness management and health promotion for patients and families requiring hospital care. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate care. Responsibilities include patient and family education, advocating for patient needs, coordinating patient care, managing clinic patients in collaboration with the provider and care team, collecting clinical records, phone triage, and participating in performance improvement initiatives. The clinic staff nurse is also responsible for understanding the surgery scheduling process and assisting as needed. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree ADN Required.
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employees must obtain Licensed RN - Kansas or Missouri multistate within 90 days
  • Required Upon Hire: Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications
  • Must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree BSN Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
  • Nurses hired after September 1, 2013 without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
  • Clinic patient management in collaboration with the provider and care team.
  • Collection and acquisition of pertinent clinical records including labs/pathology, operative reports, and radiology reports/imaging.
  • Phone triage.
  • Patient care coordination to ensure high quality care delivery.
  • Participation in performance improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Provide clinical nursing support as needed to any services reporting up through the Surgery Clinics.
  • Understanding the surgery scheduling process and assisting as needed.
