About The Position
UChicago Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Comer 6 Hematology/Oncology Pediatric Unit at Comer Children's Hospital. Comer Children's Hospital is a 172-bed facility dedicated to the care of infants, children, teens, and young adults, offering a range of services from general care to complex treatments. It houses the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicago's South Side. The Comer 6 North unit has fourteen licensed beds for hematology, oncology, stem cell transplant/immunosuppressed patients, and includes a minor procedures room, palliative care suite, play area, family kitchen, and conference room. A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) responsible for managing patient-centered, outcome-directed care. They assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on established principles and standards, holding primary responsibility and accountability for the care they and their supervised staff provide.
Requirements
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Current Illinois RN license
- Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association
Nice To Haves
- BSN degree or higher preferred.
- Pediatric RN experience
- Hematology/Oncology experienced
Responsibilities
- Manages patient centered care that is outcome directed.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care provided.
- Assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.
