About The Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute’s (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in their own plan of care, and reducing the length of hospitalization, the staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit

Responsibilities

  • Managing and providing care to the patient and their family
  • Directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model
  • Provided specialized nursing care to patients receiving outpatient infusion therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive treatments
  • Performed patient assessments, administered medications, monitored for treatment-related and infusion-related reactions, educated patients and families, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care in a high-volume academic medical center setting
