The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. This role involves delivering patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process. The nurse will assess and evaluate patient care needs, apply critical thinking skills, and integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team is essential for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Responsibilities include prioritizing patient care, educating patients and caregivers, communicating effectively, and managing assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. The role also emphasizes patient experience by role-modeling Relationship Centered Care principles, considering patient values, and establishing therapeutic relationships. Quality and safety are paramount, requiring safe and efficient patient-centered care, implementation of process improvement strategies, and adherence to high reliability principles. Operational duties include performing charge nurse duties, coordinating with leadership for resource management, accurate documentation, and facilitating patient throughput. Professional development is encouraged through advancing clinical competence, ethical decision-making, lifelong learning, and participation in shared decision-making and professional organizations.
