About The Position

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled staff nurses for their Nursing Float Pool (Tier 2), also known as the Enterprise Staffing Pool, for Adult Intermediate Care Services. These staff nurses will circulate several services to cover intermediate care units at University of Iowa Health Care University Campus, UI Health Care Downtown Campus, and UI Health Care North Liberty Campus. The role involves "just in time" assignments, covering sign-offs and census flexing, with anticipated 4-12 hours in an area. Nurses must be able to potentially float within one campus every 4 hours and meet holiday and weekend requirements. The position is a regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa, with a schedule of day shifts and holiday/weekend requirements. The role involves floating within the specialty between MCU, MCD, and MCNL campuses, working 20-36 hours per week.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of current experience with Adult Intermediate Care is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
  • General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired
  • 2 or more years of current experience with Adult Intermediate Care is desired

Responsibilities

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses.
  • Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
