This position provides general nursing care to patients and families along the health illness continuum in diverse health care settings while collaborating with the health care team. He/She is accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing. The unit is an acute care interventional telemetry medical surgical unit with 32 private beds. Patient acuity ranges from moderate to high, requiring frequent neurological assessments. The patient population includes epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, stroke, multiple sclerosis, NPH, migraine, encephalopathy, brain mass, hemicraniectomy, and other neurological/neurosurgical diagnoses. The unit does not care for ventilated patients but does administer Heparin, Argatroban, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, and ketamine drips. The unit has 24 beds for neurological/neurosurgical patients and 8 beds specifically for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
