About The Position

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The Main University Hospital OR is a Level 1 Trauma Center with 18 operating rooms, including a hybrid and trauma suite. We specialize in a wide range of surgical services including Neuro, Ortho, OBGYN, Urology, Bariatrics, Plastics, Burns, and Stroke. Our team delivers high-quality, evidence-based care, recognized with the 2025 Gold Plus Stroke Care award from the American Heart Association. We are proudly certified in Magnet, Trauma, Burn, and Stroke care.

Requirements

  • 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
  • Maintains current Ohio RN license.
  • Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
  • Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.
