The Staff Nurse (LPN) is responsible for operating within scope of practice to coordinate care delivery interventions for approximately 25 residents in an assigned area, in accordance with current professional practice standards, physician's orders, community policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves managing resident treatments, administering medications and treatments, assessing residents under the supervision of an RN, and participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care. The Staff Nurse also plays a crucial role in educating families, ensuring quality care standards are met, utilizing infection control techniques, and documenting resident responses and changes in condition. Responsibilities extend to overseeing specific procedures like tube insertions, feeding, and various assessments, as well as monitoring resident nutrition and dietary needs. The position requires meticulous documentation, adherence to policies, and effective communication with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare staff. The Staff Nurse also assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring all necessary documentation and care coordination are completed. They participate in care conferences, evaluate care interventions, and ensure resident rights are upheld. A key aspect of the role is overseeing the performance of nursing personnel to maintain high standards of care and accurate documentation. The Staff Nurse also assists in planning and teaching in-service and continuing education programs for nursing staff and other personnel.
