Manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current license in state of Ohio
  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills
  • BLS required
  • ACLS certification required
  • PALS required
  • Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
  • Participates in and completes required department specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Supports the mission, vision and CARES values of Fisher Titus.
  • Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/support person in order to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
  • Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the units as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the patient served.
  • Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Works effectively as part of a department/unit team intradepartmental to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Functions as a role model and provides support and development for current and new staff.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Directs other licensed and non licensed personnel in the provision of care to patient as assigned.
