About The Position

Registered nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. Age Specific Care Considerations Adults: 18+ years - 35 years Adults: 35+ years - 65 years Adults: 65+ years Children D: 12+ years - 18 years

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
• Minimum one year experience as RN in any specialty area
• Works with confidential material.

Nice To Haves

• All Staff Nurse Fellows will complete the ACLS certification class during the fellowship.
• Staff Nurse Fellows in the Emergency Department and the Surgical Services (OR) department will complete the PALS certification class during the fellowship.
• Staff Nurse Fellows in the Emergency Department will complete the TNCC (Trauma) class during the first 12 months from date residency begins.
• Staff Nurse Fellows in the Maternal Child Nursing (MCN) will complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) during the fellowship.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the nursing components of the patient/family/significant other educational process.
• Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients, and family members and evaluates understanding of informational manner.
• Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co- workers, and facility.
• Ensures complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
• Provides a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
• Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development.
• Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care.
• Other duties as assigned.
