About The Position

Functions independently in performing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe therapeutic care for patients’ needs and/or complications of treatment in the Emergency Department.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Degree from college or vocational school from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing.
  • The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) Upon hire
  • Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) Upon hire
  • New employees hired into the District after September 1, 2012 must have California and Nevada RN licenses.
  • Effective November 2014, if hired as a temporary or seasonal RN, must have current CA RN license only.
  • Current employees in this job classification as of 1/1/2023 must obtain their NV RN license by 6/1/2023
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Within 6 months of hire into job
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon hire
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification). Within 3 months of hire into job
  • Two years current Emergency Department experience as an RN or one year Emergency Department and one year critical care RN experience.
  • Temporary or seasonal staff may be hired with only one year of Emergency Department or Critical Care RN Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates discharge instructions and teaching.

  • Ability to work standby.
  • Ability to work at ski first aid stations.
