The Developmental and Behavioral Health team at Children’s Mercy helps children and teens with developmental, psychiatric, or psychological needs. We provide mental, emotional, and behavioral health services that lead to healthier children and stronger families. This position will primarily be a phone position, with very limited clinical care required. The ideal candidate will be experienced in phone triage nursing and have superior communication skills. Keyboarding and computer skills are a must to dictate information from calls to the medical record. Registered nurses provide mental and developmental illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care via phone. An ability to remain calm during stressful conversations is required. Registered nurses utilize nursing processes and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for patients. Registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs. Knowledge of prior authorization and handling general provider and parent requests which are received via telephone or message center contact is desired.
