About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian’s Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) is hiring a full-time Staff Nurse to join our world-class surgical team. This role offers the opportunity to expand clinical expertise with Level I trauma and transplant experience in an advanced operating room setting. The position is a key step in a robust nursing career ladder, providing ongoing opportunities for advancement, leadership, and skill development. Nurses will work with top surgeons and interdisciplinary teams in high-acuity cardiac, transplant, and trauma cases.

Requirements

  • No experience required
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process within the Relationship-Based Care model to deliver personalized, holistic care
  • Collaborate with the entire care team, using solid communication and critical thinking to support excellent patient outcomes
  • Serve as a mentor, educator, and resource to students, new staff, and fellow nurses
  • Participate in shared governance, quality improvement projects, and clinical innovation
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation that promotes safe, efficient care coordination
  • Scrub into cases as part of your role
  • Create healing environments by building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Demonstrate leadership through flexibility, accountability, and a passion for continuous learning
