About The Position

Anduril's Flight Engineering department is part of the Air Dominance and Strike organization, seeking Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MSA) Engineers to join their team. The MSA Engineer is pivotal in driving the design, development, testing, and implementation of cutting-edge flight system technologies for aerospace systems. Anduril fosters a dynamic learning culture, characterized by accelerated knowledge acquisition through modeling, simulation, analysis, and rigorous and frequent ground and flight test experimentation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, implement, and maintain virtual representations of Anduril's vehicles. You will be required to develop and coordinate the deployment and maintenance of vehicle models and simulation instantiations for various programs. The ideal candidate has experience working on aerospace systems and understands the fidelity required for sub-system and system-level modeling to integrate with broader flight control and mission autonomy software. The role requires proficiency in vehicle/sub-system modeling and well-versed in coding and software integration practices. This role is for individuals passionate about flight and building physics-based digital representations of flying vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with aerospace/aeronautical systems (including rotorcraft/VTOL) and/or Subsea vehicles.
  • Experience in flight dynamics/platform physics and control.
  • Proficiency with C/C++.
  • Advanced proficiency with scientific computing systems (Mathworks products (e.g., MATLAB, SIMULINK etc.), scientific Python (e.g., numpy, scipy)).
  • Flight test data processing/sim correlation experience.
  • Experience with developing sub-system and system level models (Air vehicle, ground vehicles, ground based sensors and other types of complex systems).
  • Experience with model development to support Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithm development.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 12 or more years of related experience.
  • Flight test support experience.
  • Experience with SITL and HITL simulation infrastructure design, development and deployment for complex systems.
  • Experience with developing emulated/simulation interfaces for on-board avionics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain sufficient fidelity virtual representations of vehicles.
  • Develop and coordinate deployment and maintenance of vehicle models and simulation instantiations for various programs.
  • Work on simulation solutions for Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithm development.
  • Develop Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) solutions.
  • Develop Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) solutions.
  • Develop Pilot-In-The-Loop (PITL) solutions.
  • Develop customer product training solutions.
  • Perform Monte-Carlo simulation analysis.
  • Conduct simulation and test data analysis.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary subject matter experts to understand and adequately model pertinent sub-system, system and system of system dynamics.
  • Work with internal and external customers to understand simulation requirements and develop efficient modeling and simulation solutions.
  • Own the end-to-end configuration of SITL, HITL, and PITL for test vehicles in support of safe and efficient flight tests.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees.
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package (available at little to no cost to employees) ensures you’re supported in health, recovery, and whatever comes next.
