About The Position

The Staff Model Maker is responsible for prototype fabrication in support of product development, bringing products from initial concept through design, prototyping, development, testing, design verification and validation, manufacturing, and product introduction. The Staff Model Maker is also responsible for maintaining machines and measurement equipment, including calibration, regularly scheduled preventive maintenance, and routine servicing to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable operation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in machining, tool and die making, or model making; experience in the medical device industry is required.
  • Extensive experience operating CNC and manual mills, lathes, and EDM machines.
  • Experience with Mastercam or other related CAM software is a required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven creativity and demonstrated ability to contribute to design improvements and develop practical machining solutions.
  • Strong self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize CNC and manual machining equipment, including mills, lathes, and EDM machines, to fabricate models, prototypes, test parts, and low-volume production components for instruments and implants.
  • Train, develop, and mentor new hires in machining processes, equipment operation, and departmental procedures.
  • Participate in design meetings and brainstorming sessions, providing technical input and practical machining expertise to support product development.
  • Ensure all machines and measurement equipment are calibrated as required and maintained in compliance with Globus’ quality system.
  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting of machines to ensure smooth, accurate, and trouble-free operation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through regular cleaning and equipment upkeep.
  • Assist with process and tooling development to support manufacturing operations and improve production processes.
  • Adhere to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, the MedTech Code, and all applicable company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations in the United States and internationally by completing required introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance requirements applicable to the role.
