About The Position

TTM Technologies, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of technology products, including mission systems, radio frequency (“RF”) components, RF microwave/microelectronic assemblies, and technologically advanced printed circuit boards (“PCB”s). TTM stands for time-to-market, representing how TTM's time-critical, one-stop design, engineering and manufacturing services enable customers to reduce the time required to develop new products and bring them to market. This role will participate as a member of assigned product design teams to perform mechanical engineering functions in the design, development and analysis of both current and next generation products for commercial, defense and space applications. The role will support the technical development of the Mechanical Engineering and Design functions through the evaluation and introduction of new design and analysis capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in electronic packaging (i.e. Thermal Analysis, Structural Analysis, Environmental, etc.) and experience with materials and processes involved in electronic packaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree - Mechanical Engineering minimum
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Mechanical design experience in electronics design, development and manufacturing required.
  • Experience with FEA programs (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation or similar programs) required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance when necessary for work on a project that requires such a clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate design trade-offs and perform FEA on next generation development projects.
  • Foster spirit of differentiation and innovative thinking.
  • Create and development of advanced concepts and technologies for TTM’s products including efficient and cost-effective ways to accomplish program objectives.
  • Analyze and recommend design concepts to meet customer requirements and evaluate design approaches for specification compliance.
  • Maintain a current understanding of the state of the art of Mechanical Design and Analysis tools and promote concepts that enhance or expand our mechanical design and analysis capabilities.
  • Prepare and participate in, internal and external customer product design reviews.
  • Identify risks, generate recommendations and implement solutions.
  • Review, negotiate and accept mechanical portions of product specifications received from customers.
  • Perform and document mechanical analysis of assigned designs and assure that customer requirements are met.
  • Mentor, direct and supervise efforts of other engineers, designers and drafting personnel on any assigned projects.
  • Interface with project engineering, process engineering, and design engineering personnel as required to ensure successful product designs.
  • Assure that standard mechanical engineering and TTM mechanical design standards and practices are complied with on assigned projects.
  • Develop qualification plan and perform qualification testing to assure that new designs, materials and process meet the intended requirements when implemented.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and vendor material specifications to ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Participate in the hiring, training and development, of new Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Designers.
  • Recommend, evaluate, and take part in product improvement and cost reduction efforts.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of mechanical design standards.
  • Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA and Anti-Kick Back.
  • Perform all other related duties and assignments as assigned.
  • Under minimal supervision with broad scope of responsibility, performs complex activities relating to the design, analysis and qualification testing and evaluation of new or revised mechanical or electro-mechanical designs.
  • Performs state-of-the-art product development activities, including drawing board layout and interpretation, and implementation of customer specifications.
  • Make technical recommendations/decisions on projects and develop engineering statements of work, cost and manpower estimates for proposed projects and present technical design reviews within the company and to customers.
  • Serve as a technical leader, helps identify skills gaps and develop others.
  • Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Process and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation; c) understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL); d) understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US; e) manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.
