Staff Mechanical Engineer
About The Position
Otis is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer who is a highly experienced, hands-on technical leader responsible for driving complex engineering programs while actively contributing to mechanical system and component development. This role combines deep product development expertise, advanced modeling and simulation capabilities, and strong program leadership to ensure the successful design, validation, and release of high-performance mechanical solutions across global product portfolios. The ideal candidate brings a can-do mindset and a passion for innovative, practical problem-solving, leveraging rapid prototyping techniques and creative approaches to overcome technical challenges and accelerate program success.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with 10–15+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, and technical leadership
- Proven success leading products through the full development lifecycle, from concept through production release
- Strong expertise in mechanical design, system integration, verification/validation, and manufacturing processes, including Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Advanced proficiency in Creo 3D modeling and FEA/simulation tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering programs with minimal oversight
- Innovative problem solver with a hands-on, can-do mindset and strong sense of ownership
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across cross-functional and global teams
- Track record of mentoring engineers and developing technical talent
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves
- MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Advanced experience with Creo/Pro Engineer and FEA tools (e.g., Ansys)

Responsibilities
- Lead major engineering programs with responsibility for technical direction, cross-functional coordination, and ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance requirements.
- Act as a hands-on design contributor, performing advanced 3D modeling in Creo, developing detailed component and system designs, and applying simulation tools (FEA/structural analysis) to optimize performance.
- Drive product development rigor, bringing expertise in requirements definition, concept evaluation, prototyping, testing, and design-for-manufacture considerations.
- Apply rapid prototyping and iterative development techniques to accelerate learning cycles and validate concepts early.
- Innovate and develop novel technical approaches to achieve program goals, solving difficult or ambiguous engineering challenges.
- Interpret test and qualification results, ensuring alignment with design intent and directing required modifications.
- Support quality and field engineering teams by diagnosing issues, validating corrective actions, and providing technical guidance during problem resolution.
