About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL. This role will support Production Operation Systems and Technology. The role will be the technical SME for the division to support Manufacturing Engineering and related functions within our digital tools such as SAP, CPLM, and SmartMES. The preferred candidate will be an individual with a bias for action, strategic thinking, data analysis, problem-solving, exceptional customer focus, communications, and a sound foundation in Material Planning and Production Control practices. The qualified applicant will have a working knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Engineering. The candidate must have knowledge and experience of the digital tools required for manufacturing.

Requirements

  • 12 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science STEM Degree; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Strong experience using software for manufacturing (ERP, MES, PLM/PDM)
  • Strong experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Flexible work schedule to support out of service system testing.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter, detail and quality oriented, and able to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ Years experience in SAP
  • Experienced in CPLM & SmartMES
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • SAP Certifications
  • Understanding of MRP
  • Experience in the performance of system integration testing
  • Experience writing functional specifications

Responsibilities

  • Develops cost/risk benefit summaries and recommendations for leadership.
  • Engage and collaborate with programs and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Seeking a critical role in developing and managing achievable production schedules for an entire factory servicing multiple businesses.
  • Ability to document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.
