About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) sector is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, to work as a member of an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team member in Englewood, CO. This is a new role, and the candidate will be expected to be proficient in standing up processes in a new manufacturing/integration environment. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge in the fabrication, assembly, system integration, and testing of hardware. The candidate will be involved in authoring & creating Product Release Documents (PRD), Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Work Instructions & BTP packages. Work with and coordinate with Global Supply Chain to move installation packages and related engineering documents through process flow to drive material procurement. Assist in peer reviews of design releases to ensure first time quality. Interface with cross functional internal & external teams and stakeholders critical to system deployment and installation. Oversee and drive progress using metrics and lessons learned. Author and assist in the creation of comprehensive & detailed work instructions for multiple system locations supporting system deployment and success.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 12+ years of technical /engineering experience – OR – Master’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 10+ years of technical / engineering experience.
Proven multi-tasker and self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in writing technical specifications or manufacturing work instructions.
Proficient in reading engineering drawings and a good understand of GD&T (Geometric Design and Tolerancing).
Proficiency with MS Office required, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
Proficiency with NX, Team center MPLM, SolidWorks, and Visio.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance & SCI Access.
U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves

Proficient in standing up manufacturing processes that do not currently exist.
Proficient in execution of Design for Manufacture (DFM) process with design engineering team.
Proficient in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) like Solumina, or PEO.
Proficient in understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.
Engineering experience in an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 compliant manufacturing/fabrication work environment.
Familiarity with all phases of Ground Entry Point Antenna assembly and test and RF Test experience.

Responsibilities

Create manufacturing plans for manufacturing team to ensure that overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
Create and improve manufacturing work instructions to meet challenging hardware requirements.
Establish a common design goal that is aligned with the as-bid program proposal and the best approach for manufacturability through TKO (Technical Kick Off).
Communicate manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers through MRR (Manufacturing Readiness Reviews).
Create and manage Manufacturing Bill of Materials.
Review engineering designs and drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.
Conceptualize and design manufacturing tooling when required to help support operations.
Provide liaison to operations.
Support real time manufacturing floor issues and resolve discrepant hardware through disposition for immediate remedy. Participate in root cause investigation for preventative corrective action.
Specify all necessary special processes, equipment, and fixtures required for manufacturing on assigned programs.
Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency, and product quality.
