Our team in the Space Sector’s Actuation Systems Business Unit is looking for a Staff Manager, Project Engineering. You will be responsible for leading and developing approximately 20 project engineering direct reports. You will be charged with the oversight of engineering projects, ensuring development and production projects comply with our Design and Development standard processes. You will also participate in proposal efforts with strong engineering teams supporting new business capture and long-term growth. This position will have an onsite work schedule in Elma, New York and requires access to U.S. export-controlled information and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Proven track record managing and leading engineering teams to success
  • Experience with people leadership and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including EVMS, Risk and Opportunity Management, Scope Management, Schedule and Budget Management
  • Ability to work onsite in Elma, NY (remote candidates will not be considered)
  • This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of ~20 project engineers
  • Assign projects to direct reports promptly and monitor tasks to ensure they are completed within technical, cost, and schedule constraints
  • Provide personal development for direct reports by conducting performance reviews, mentoring, and monitoring career development.
  • Provide technical leadership to the broader organization by providing feedback to engineering strategy
  • Champion continuous improvement in the design and development processes
  • Coordinate with engineering leadership to align project goals and share best practices across teams
  • Maintain key performance indicators and metrics
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to your team
