About The Position

Integral Ad Science (IAS) is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for its Data Science Team. The role contributes to core products and oversees data science systems that make large-scale business predictions across the open web, social networks, video, and mobile apps. The Staff Engineer serves as a technical pillar, taking ownership of ambiguous business problems and translating them into scalable machine learning architectures. The role defines technical roadmaps and ML engineering practices, drives applied machine learning innovation, and mentors colleagues while raising technical standards across multiple teams. The position operates in an open and collaborative environment. The engineer will drive architecture and system design for core AI/ML services, lead complex initiatives from inception through global deployment, and build distributed deep learning infrastructure for enterprise-scale training. The role also partners with product, engineering, and executive stakeholders, and owns the design, development, and support of CI/CD pipelines that move models from research into reliable production services.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent years of experience.
  • 7+ years of machine learning experience in industry, with a proven track record operating at Lead, Principal, or Staff level.
  • Deep expertise designing complex machine learning systems, ranking infrastructures, and data pipelines that handle massive throughput.
  • Extensive production-hardened experience with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
  • Strong production-grade programming skills in Python, Go, Java, or C++, and a deep understanding of software design principles and algorithms.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, take on large unstructured problems, and independently drive them to successful technical resolutions.
  • Strong history of collaborating with, elevating, and mentoring engineering talent.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural vision and system design for core AI/ML-based services.
  • Serve as technical lead for complex, multi-quarter initiatives from inception to global deployment.
  • Design and build large-scale deep learning infrastructure and platforms for distributed model training with low latency and high availability.
  • Partner with Product Management, Core Engineering, and executive stakeholders to align ML capabilities with business strategy.
  • Translate abstract product requirements into concrete technical designs.
  • Mentor and guide senior and mid-level data scientists and engineers.
  • Establish standard methodologies, define code quality expectations, and lead architecture design reviews.
  • Work with large-scale AI training infrastructure components and big data ecosystems.
  • Design, develop, and support robust CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML services, enabling reliable production deployment of models.

Benefits

  • Paid time off
  • Health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision
  • PPO, HSA, and FSA options
  • 401(k) with employer matching contributions
  • Annual bonus and/or other incentive plans for full-time employees
