Staff Hardware Systems Design Engineer

ChargePointCampbell, CA
1d$150,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Working as a technical lead for the design and development of complex electrical hardware systems projects for use in EVSE applications, taking an active role in planning, scheduling, and execution across the full product lifecycle, from prototype to mass production. Driving system-level requirements and architecture decisions. Distilling inputs to create solutions for use across multiple EV charging platforms and products. Creating system diagrams and requirements for a global, cross-functional team or engineers, including software, firmware, and validation engineers, to ensure top-down integration of all features and functionality, whilst ensuring designs align with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. Specifying system behavior, encompassing fault sources, thresholds, and outcomes, and thermal algorithm definition to maximize charging availability without compromising product/component lifetime.

Requirements

  • Ability to critically evaluate and approve design documents, schematics, and layouts, based on experience of circuit design and PCB layout (digital, analog, power).
  • Attention to detail in creating and implementing testing strategies to verify hardware performance and durability, focusing on
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills to identify and fix hardware issues in a timely fashion, making hands-on use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • A DFX mentality, ensuring that projects you work on are optimized in terms of cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Clear communication skills are required when sharing design review and project status updates to stakeholders and leadership, and when providing technical assistance to customers and manufacturing partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10-15 years relevant industry experience
  • Proven track record of leading complex hardware design projects from concept to production.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
