At realtor.com®, Spotlight Listings and Agent Directory sit at the intersection of consumer decision-making and professional value creation. Spotlight Listings is a premium merchandising experience that helps agents increase listing visibility through enhanced presentation, branding, and placement, while Agent Directory helps consumers discover and evaluate the right real estate professional through richer profile content, better filtering, and stronger trust signals. We are looking for a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to serve as a technical anchor for this team, driving the architecture and delivery of experiences across web frontends, APIs, and supporting services. You will help shape premium listing experiences and agent discovery surfaces used by consumers at critical moments in their home journey, while building systems that also create measurable value for real estate professionals. Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including deep experience building consumer-facing web applications and backend services at scale.
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript, React, modern web tooling, and backend technologies such as Node.js, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable designing end-to-end solutions that span UI architecture, APIs, services, experimentation, analytics, and cloud-native infrastructure. You know how to build for scale, reliability, and long-term evolution.
  • Understand testing strategy, observability, CI/CD, and release quality, and you care deeply about building systems that are easy to operate and safe to change.
  • Raise the bar for the engineers around you through technical leadership, clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Comfortable partnering with Product and Data teams to run experiments, interpret results, and use evidence to improve user and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of our consumer web experiences and the supporting backend services that power premium listing presentation, agent discovery, profile connections, and lead paths.
  • Design cohesive systems across React/Next.js frontends, Node.js services, GraphQL and REST APIs, experimentation layers, and operational observability so that client and server systems work together as a reliable platform.
  • Drive initiatives that improve Core Web Vitals, rendering performance, accessibility, resiliency, and software quality across some of our most important consumer-facing surfaces.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Data to build experiences that make listings feel more differentiated and informative, and that help consumers more confidently choose homes and agents.
  • Work closely with partner teams across search, listing detail pages, profile systems, mobile, and platform services to align on integrations, rollout strategy, and long-term technical direction.
  • Raise the bar through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and the establishment of reusable patterns and paved-road approaches for other teams to build on.
